  • 8 years at the Office of School Approval where I assessed K-12 public and private schools’ compliance with federal and state requirements

After my retirement in 2014, I worked as a real estate agent, volunteered as a tax preparer with AARP, and served on various committees with the State Employees Association.

Who are you, and what ties you to our community?

I am a longtime wife and mother of two adult married sons, who graduated from Goffstown High School. Since moving to Goffstown in 1996, I have participated in various local activities, such as coaching a youth soccer team and volunteering with the Friends of the Goffstown Library to working as a Supervisor of the Checklist since 2022. I have found most recently that many residents are unaware of the bills passed in Concord, which negatively impact their daily lives and those of their neighbors—from young toddlers to our vulnerable seniors.

Why are you running for State Representative right now?

New Hampshire has changed in the 30 years I’ve lived here—and not for the better. There are three general areas where voting by the current legislature’s majority has been disturbing. First, they continue to promote cutting the taxes of big corporations, while reducing aid to towns and other programs supporting services for our residents. Second, they increasingly are encroaching on municipal governments’ authority over land use, gun safety zones and even local tax caps. And third are the bills to limit individuals’ rights by meddling with people’s discussions with their doctors, teachers and priests.

What are the top 2–3 issues facing our district?

As a Goffstown State Representative, I would work especially hard for our most vulnerable residents. Are our children getting the food they need? Are their health needs being met? Are their living conditions clean and safe? These are the same questions I would ask about our seniors and others who may have disabilities which prevents them from bringing home a livable income.

I would stay in contact with our town’s Welfare Office, with the Goffstown Food Pantry manager, and the schools’ principals to learn more about the needs of these residents and how the state can assist the town to help them.

Then there are the issues of increasing local taxes, lower state aid to towns for public education, the retirement fund for public employees, health care, childcare, and nursing home funding.

How would you address these issues?

I would support bills which once again tax large corporations at previous rates. I would support a budget which once again sends those funds back to the towns to support our most vulnerable residents and to help reduce local property taxes.

How will you represent all constituents—including those who may disagree with you?

I believe I am a good listener who is empathetic and nonjudgemental to a point. Sometimes it is hard to hear misinformation being spread as if it is gospel. Decisions must be based on facts. If people cannot agree on the facts, there is less chance they can compromise.

What values guide your decision-making?

When a legislator votes on a bill, it is imperative to research and understand the key facts related to that bill. This requires one to verify the legitimacy of the source of the facts. Is the source neutral or will the source benefit from the passing or defeat of the bill? As a legislator, I will do my best to research the facts related to bills and vote according to how the bill benefits all Granite Staters today and in the future.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I am not running to improve my bank account or get a special vanity plate for my 2011 Honda. I am not a candidate because I have nothing else to do with my time. I am a candidate for Goffstown State Representative because I know I can make a difference. I can help my neighbors in town and across the state have a better life for themselves and their children.

Vote for All 6

Goffstown elects four (4) representatives, plus another two (2) "floterial" representatives that we share with Weare. Remember to vote for all 6 Democrats—leaving a blank is an advantage for our opposition.
