We've got a Goffstown special this week—our reps have co-sponsored another retaliatory bill targeting the Goffstown Public library.
HB1214 would allow a town’s governing body to assume governance of a public library. In this case, the library trustees we all elect would only be able to serve in an advisory role.
This lovely bill is co-sponsored by Goffstown reps:
-Joe Alexander
-Henry Giasson
-Sherri Reinfurt
-Ross Berry
Don’t know about you, but we’re pretty sick of our lawmakers taking out personal grudges by putting forth bills no one is asking for.
If you agree enough is enough…

Education
✅ Support HB1787
HB1787 reforms the statewide education property tax (SWEPT) and ends the current system that allows wealthier communities to retain excess funds. The bill also expands property tax relief for low- and moderate-income homeowners, helping make school funding fairer and more transparent statewide. Email members of the House Ways & Means Committee in support of this bill by Monday, Feb 9.
✅ Support HB1557
HB1557 increases the percentage of special education funding the state must cover for each child that qualifies, which would reduce costs for our local schools. Email your representatives to tell them to support this bill on the House Floor on Thursday.
✅ Support HB1799
HB1799 defines what the legislature determines as the meaning of a constitutionally adequate education. Creates a commission to study alternative methods of funding public schools besides property taxes. Email your representatives to tell them to support this bill on the House Floor on Thursday.
